Good sighting!

Etsy is a an online store for homemade crafts; craft supplies; and vintage stuff (clothing and home decor) with approximately ten billion sellers.  Seriously, I just searched for “jewelry” and got 3,177,404 items for sale.  “Gemstone jewelry” gave me 171,410, and “fused glass” yielded 47,404 items for sale.

One of the ways you get noticed is to join teams (I’m in three; SF Etsy, Sonoma Etsy and Independant Free Spirit) and make collections of things you like called treasuries.  Here’s my latest.

Drat, why does WordPress just show the page when you put in the link?  Wordpress doesn’t seem to support Etsy mini either.  Anyone know how Etsy & WordPress can work together?  Guess I have to, gulp, look in the forum.

Back to treasuries: You aren’t supposed to include your own items in your treasury, and it’s best to only include one item per shop so you have a chance to have your treasury featured by Etsy staff which I hear brings a lot of attention to your virtual shop.  I like discovering random items from around the world.  It’s fun being a curator, deciding which products make the grade, picking themes and colors.  But the main benefit of making treasuries is the hope that people will be curious about your shop and take a look.  We also aim to accumulate marketing brownie points so we’ll be featured in someone else’s collection.  Not that it’s tit for tat.  It’s all based on the karma system.

Ain’t that lovely?
