Personalized gifts for Jewish weddings
At the end of Jewish weddings the groom stomps on a drinking glass to crush it and everyone yells “Mazel tov!” It’s a great, festive moment. I use the broken glass to make mosaic frames, adding hand painted fused glass beads with the newlywed’s initials and anniversary date. Sparkly and sentimental, the perfect frame for a wedding photo.
I also use wedding glass shards to make mezuzah cases. The Jewish lightening rod, a mezuzah case holds a parchment scroll (the mezuzah) with a home blessing written in Hebrew. It’s traditonally affixed to the frame of the front door, and perhaps, every door, in the more traditional home.
These can be made in a variety of colors and sizes.
